What I Worked On

This project was an in-depth exploration of organizing content according to the principles of information architecture for the class Interaction Design Overview. My goals were to use typography as an effective tool for communication, create grid systems that support organization of content on a page or screen, apply color for specific purposes in their work, and communicate using signals of feedforward/feedback to inform the user.

Design Process

Prioritization

  • Content wrangling

  • Progressive disclosure

Design

  • Lo-fi wirefames

  • Mid-fi wireframes

  • Hi-fi wireframes

Prototype

  • User flow prototyped via Figma

CHALLENGES/LEARNINGS

🔄 Importance of feedforward/feedback

I had never heard of feedforward/feedback before, but realized that the most seamless experiences have those concepts naturally built in to the point that it's something the user doesn't even consciously notice.

👥 Understanding the target user

For this project, I was working with a lot of limitations. The only content on the site was the text we were given and color usage was minimal, so the effectiveness of the site was completely based on the hierarchy of the text displays. This exercise forced me to really put myself in the target user's shoes to figure out what their main priorities were and how effective my structure was in achieving those priorities.
